This print collection – 9 Selegie Road, 26 Jalan Klinik and 29 Havelock Road – is a celebration of the social and architectural achievement of Singapore in public housing. These HDB flat designs are the last few standing from that that era, and are aesthetically and architecturally groundbreaking at that time. Especially significant is that Blk 9 Selegie Road was declared open by our founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew on 31 May 1963. The design would have thrilled art deco fans then, and it still does now. Singapore’s strong and cohesive social fabric has been built over the decades on, inter alia, our renowned public housing infrastructure. HDB flats are truly a home for us all and hold generations of memory for Singaporeans.
